Pat Parker was an active participant in the Carrothers' racing operation for almost 18 years.  Sadly she passed away in February 2013 shortly after a diagnosis of terminal cancer.  She loved the horses and enjoyed following their careers from foaling to the race track to a happy retirement.  She lived in the Virgin Islands and, until recently, had made two trips a year to see our horses in action.  One trip to Ocala to see the developing young horses and another to Saratoga to see the horses on the race track.  She was delighted when her cable TV company in St Croix started carrying the racing channel so she could watch the races on a daily basis.  One memorable experience was the day Smiling Bob won at Saratoga.  The colt was named for her late husband and romped home under jockey Pat Day in a flying finish that was described as "and here comes Smiling Bob, out of the clouds!"  And it was Pat's birthday!  Her participation and enthusiasm will be sorely missed.  She was a great friend and partner.

Pat left a very generous donation to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.
